Reverse roadster

In 1930 2 guys drove this 29 roadster 3340 miles from NYC to LA in reverse. The engine never shut off. I can't imagine doing that. I have trouble backing out of my driveway

My neck is sore just thinking about driving in reverse that long. From the looks of the right rear fender, there was a bit of a learning curve.

That photo is actually from the Brad Minners collection.

Look close on the bottom left and you can see where someone did a crappy job photoshopping out his watermark on the image.

Back in the day, and I'm talking in the 60's or so, there were two guys who took a Model A across country backwards. The car was modified by turning the body around and there was a "This Country is Going Backwards" theme on the side of it. They would stop frequently for publicity, and then it was featured in periodic publications and made some other appearances. I have no idea what happened to it. Maybe they need to bring it back today!

Bill Dell and a friend replicated the reverse trip across the USA in a 1930-31 DeLuxe Roadster to advertise the 1966 upcoming MAFCA Convention, which I think was in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I remember reading the story in a "Restorer" issue decades ago. Maybe someone can dig out that issue and scan the pages for all to see? I have literally hundreds and hundreds of Model A and T national club magazines that are NOT in any logical order. It would take me a week to thumb through the hundreds of Model A magazines to find that article. Is someone out there more organized with their literature than I? If so, look in a late 1966 "Restorer" issue, or possibly early 1967, to find the story.
