Restoring the Accelerator to carburetor rod...

Many times we find A-9742 (Acclerator to steering gear rod); A-9747 (Acclerator to carburetor rod); and A-9757 (Spark control rod) with broken springs and unusable.

Has anyone tried to restore these rods to bring them back to usable condition?

If so...how did you replace the broken spring?
Thanks.

Several times I found well rusted, apparantly unusable rods came back by soaking with Kroil, then wirebrushing. Gently work the ends that have the springs captured. Eventually the springs will free up and again function as designed. Bob

Can they be plated or do you just paint them?

Don't have any experience with plating. Have sprayed with cold galvanize, aluminum spray paint, and gloss black rustoleum. Bob
