Restoring pedal "ramps"

Has anyone tried building up the "ramp" area of the pedals with weld? I'm talking about the area that makes contact with the guides that causes the pedal/shaft to move to the left when the shaft rotates. Any suggestions on how to grind or file it to make it fit to the guide? I've ordered new guides, but I'm anticipating that the pedals are worn too.

I'm thinking once the new cams arrive you'll be able to fit the two pieces together, pedal and cam, to see if the fit is acceptable or not. if you do decide to build the pedal ramp up with a little weld, i would tig weld it. if done carefully you could get away with just a small amount of hand fileing.

Without removing the pedals from the shaft might be a problem, but I guess the shaft could be pressed out or even replaced to reduce oil leaks and enable filing.

I have the hogshead completely disassembled, and all the pedals are off the shafts. I'm hoping that when the cams arrive (should be in the next day or so), that I'll find that it was the old cams that were worn moreso than the pedals, and that I'll have little or no play with the pedals on the new cams. So I guess it will be hand work if I find that I do have to weld up the pedals. File, test fit, file test fit, repeat.
