Restore Steering Wheel

The picture is of the steering wheel from my 1930 coupe. The wheel has been washed with Simple Green, and has several hairline cracks. What should I use to clean, shine and preserve the wheel. Is there a common way to restore the wheel?

Thanks Paul. I look at the EV8 board, and they had good information on repairing cracks with PC-7. Once I have done that - what should I use to clean and seal the wheel (If I understand the postings, you do not want the wheel to be too shinny).

A fellow I know swears that black primer is identical to the correct finish. You could shoot a test piece to compare to your preference of what it should look like.

After repairing a steering wheel, I have been pleased with the finish that PPG DP-90 leaves on the surface. The finish appears to be "original" to most Model A enthusiasts. Gar Williams
