Response on 15% Ethanol

In my opinion he was short on promises and long on rhetoric ! He basically said his favorite color is plaid. I am not impressed and I think you got a political reponse from one of his puppets ! It is anothing letter as far as I am concerned !!
Al

You may be right about the response being from one of the puppets but at the end of the day the puppet hopefully will tell the boss about all of the letters on the topic.

It's only going to get worse. We will be having to pay fees for driving older cars soon. They will call them emissions fees. The EPA is only going to worse. It's real bad on small engines. Lawn equipment never should be run with it.

Dennis;
First let me thank you for your efforts, regardless of what others have said you have tried, if enough of us would follow in your steps it will make a difference. I won't go into the merits or lack there of, having ethanol in gas, I have had my own personal experiences that have formed my own opinion.

Back in the day when MTBE was in our gas I contacted my elected state official, we were good friends and spoke by phone several times a month. This matter was in his committee and I expressed my concerns based on known facts, he was not happy with me. As a result we didn't speak to each other for a number of years, in recent years we are speaking and we chatted in person this last Sat. Now that water has traveled under the bridge who was right, do we have MTBE in our gas, if you feel that something is wrong then do something about it!

While it still needs personal involvement, joining SEMA-SAN will go a long way to making our voices known. It doesn't cost a cent and in my state we already have over 10,000 members. Joining will get you at least one or more newsletters per month on your computer covering every thing SEMA is doing. I belong to both SEMA and SEMA-SAN and am very pleased with what they have accomplished and what they are working on.

When I was in high school and working at the Studebaker dealer my boss once straightened me out by telling me "Can't never did nothing", we can do a lot if we try.

Dennis,

I just received a letter from my Senator at 6:14 p.m. yesterday afternoon about a different subject other than Ethanol 15% & composed a serious written response.

Was thinking about how the ice & snow was cold on their bare feet when crossing the Delaware, while many draft dodgers ran & hid in the woods; but, like you, so few did so much for us.

Sent response with a different twist of cc'ing same to about 200 friends; maybe no response, but maybe a different person will be chosen next year.

In my opinion, it is similar to this Forum, it always takes just a few to start anything good.

Again I also commend Denis for the effort, but try this as an example.
The President of the United States gets 6500 letters per week, 100,000 emails a week, 3500 telephone calls a day and 1000 faxes a day. It is stated that he reads about 10 a day to keep his finger on the pulse so to speak. That is 338,000 letters, 5,200,000 emails, 1,277,000 telephone calls per year and 365,000 faxes a year. Rounded off that is 8,000,000 ( 8 million ) he gets a year. Do you think one letter makes a difference.
Al
p.s. these are figures released by the Whitehouse !

From what I gathered thus far from foreigners in traveling, and after their watching the current news, it appears that the entire World compares our current President to somebody like Santa.

With a current World population of (7) billion, this means that according to the figures released by the White House, that only approximately one (1) person out of every eighty-seven (87) people in the entire World contact him every year.

Personally, I would have thought he would be getting far more multiple requests from individuals & far more mail than this in a year.

Anyway, in my humble opinion, I think writing to him for something, or requesting to do away with 15% ethanol could be compared to writing to Santa.

Like Dennis, I prefer writing to smaller offices like that of Senators who make laws; but with an added twist of copies cc'd to "many" local individuals by email -- it is already working -- received several responses from concerned citizens & some said they already forwarded my letter to the Senator.

But with all due respect, just because the letter was forwarded to the Senator that does not mean he will read it. That is what they have such a large staff for....to deflect from the Senator !

Does not mean you should give up.

Contents of letter, timing, how written, & to whom makes a tremendous difference.

Remember one letter to a Senator about our re-wharehousing 55 gallon drums of Agent Orange at the Naval Base in Gulfport, MS, after Hurricane Camille, whereby I received a personal call from the Commanding General of 5th Army, (then in Texas), & a few days later received a personal letter from the Senator & President Nixon -- the mission was immediately halted!

Have witnessed quite a few other favorable "earth shaking" results with letters to Senators & Congressmen, in the past, so I continue to write.

Behind the scenes, most are aware of the record division occuring "today" that never was witnessed before in our history -- some of our particular statesmen, with narrow margins, are literally walking on pins & needles.

Just my opinion, very good time to write, but cc letters to as many "concerned" citizens as possible & spread the word -- King George did not read his letters either, but George later told King George where to go.

Again with all due respect you are right that some letters that divulge very serious issues or may embarrass the Governor or Senator or President will be actioned. Ethanol in gasoline does notg fall in the aforementioned group. It is a ho hum letter.
Should you give up, the answer is...never ! That is what democracy is all about. Just look at the present situation of all the layoffs to service the debt and you have to believe that situation will get far more attention than Ethanol.
5000 border guards to be laid off or furloughed. is going to get everyones attention.

Thanks.

Lots of truth in all above most concerned sincere replies & comments on ethanol 15%; however, agree that one (1) single letter of concern is never too alarming to a trained Congressional letter reviewer.

In my opinion, with email, when the very well trained "local" letter reviewer actually witnesses the "cc'ing of "any" letter to over 200 different real e-mail addresses" in "this" particular State, (knowing that each recipient can further email same to their friends in "this" State), this trained letter reviewer is fully cognizant that this concern is not coming from just one (1) fly -- i.e., more than (200) flies are possibly agreeing to try to destroy "his/her" already shaky Future Election Anniversary Cake!

Second to last letter I received on a concern had a very detailed response as opposed to a letter seemingly from Betty Crocker.

My last post on this subject:
I add but one more thought to this process. Quite often a letter with that many persons copied is rejected by a spam filter. I agree that copied to influental people is a good tactic but 200 names i believe does not get the same attention as 5 prominent names. I know, I have been there.
Regards, Al

Mine might be rejected as SPAM with an E-mail address that begins with----WWBOOTIEDOG@ Bill W.

Whenever I write to my elected officials, I send my comments on Postcards. I found that the fact that the card maybe read by people on the way to the congressman seems to help to get their attention.

While it's an old way to send things, a postcard seems to always get me a prompt reply!

Hi Marc,

May appear like an old way; however, several U. S. military organizations still always send pre-addressed, pre-typewritten post cards with both forwarding & return addresses to members for mailing to one's local Congressmen, or to a special Congressmen on a Committee.

Every time I have mailed one or more, a response is "always" given, probably because of the numbers of cards mailed.

Over the past 45 years or so, I have seen quite a few unfavorable bills shot down & quite a few favorable ones passed in this manner, & later observe that the Congressman who recieved the post cards voted favorably on the matter.

Our forefathers & ancesters fought for, & concentrated on the well being of their children & grandchildren. Also, many on this Forum are of this same mindset & always go out of their way to help others.

Standing up like you do against odds in difficult times is most contageous in many societies.
