Request To Ryan

Ryan would it be possible to have a sub part to the ford Barn { Don't know what Else to call it }that is a little bit of a social side of the car owners,
The old Barn kind of had it intertwined in & I feel that you want to keep the new barn more directed at just the cars / trucks.
It is my opinion & I think some others that feel there are many sides to this hobbie Two being the Tech side And the people that own the cars.
There has been a lot of friends made here & some of that may be being lost.
I know there are other means to keep in touch / eMail / face Book / and others ,but a lot of people are not confortable using them.
If some thing could be set up even on a trial bases to see how it go's.
Your Consideration of this sugestion would be greatly appreciated.

To add to Bill's request/suggestion, we have Fordbarn events throughout the year. I know on the HAMB you have an Events section - I think this would pretty much match what Bill is requesting so you are not reinventing the wheel and site designs parallel one another.

Thanks for listening and considering Bill's request ....

Tom, I agree with what you and Bill are suggesting and think it would be a nice addition to the FordBarn. It’s obvious that there is more to this hobby then “technical assistance” and the social aspect is a big part of it.

However, if by "events" you are referring to the "Barner's Bash", Blue Ridge Parkway Tour, New England Tour, as well as the event you held in Williamsburg, remember that these events (for the most part) were originated and put together in association with the "old" FordBarn and Shelly took an active roll in supporting them. After the sale of FordBarn, I opted to continue holding the Florida "Barner's Bash" events, etc. and promoting them here on the FordBarn and ChevyBarn however, as yet, there is no relationship between the FordBarn and the aforementioned events. I agree and I hope I have not overstepped. However, it would still be nice to have a place to talk about these events as they are as much social as anything else, and it would be nice to get others here on the 'Barn (read that as "newbies" to the 'Barn) involved.

I live in So. Calif and plan a trip to the east coast next year and would like to attend some events that are going on. So a event side would be good. Also I could see if there were events in So. Calif I could attend.

I too would like to know. Driving down to Florida and back to Chicago area over a 12 week period on vacation. Would be nice to connect with some of ya-all.

I usually post a lot (just ask Lawson Cox...LOL) about the events aka "Barner's Bash" that we hold. Out events are open to all that would like to attend, with or without a Flathead.

I usually let my wife and kids plan our vacations and once they have determined a location, I will start looking for car events in that area for the time I'm in that area. To be able to find them listed here would be great. Kinda like the paper "cruisin news" but nationwide. Either way thanks for all that you do for this hobby!

The Ford Barn will probably never be able to have a comprehensive list of all the events going on around the country. You underestimate how many events there are and the work it would take to post them all.

And, it would be a weak duplication of effort. There are already such sites. For example:

http://www.oldride.com/events/

A better approach would be to become more familiar with Google. A simple search will give you plenty of results.

For events that directly involve "Barners", just post them on the forum. Heaven knows Vic makes sure everyone is aware of his. It works great, and nobody can complain that they didn't hear about it because it was buried in some special section.

Along the same lines of becoming more computer savvy, you want a Social Group to carry on non-tech, social discussions? Create one. Ford Barn gives you the facility to start your own discussion group ... you don't need Ryan.

Click on "Community" - "Social Groups" - then "Create a New Group" in the lower left. Bingo.

Call it The Ford Barn ... Roundup? Campfire? Corral? Bullpen? Henhouse?
