Has anyone bought a set of rear 31 coupe steel reproduction fenders? How do they fit - any problems - how do they look? How about 31 long splash aprons, front radiator apron, steel diamond plate running boards........... In general, what do you think of this in terms of quality, not originality. Thanks

steve
check out your local swap meet
those fenders are faily common
i saw at least 5 or 6 last weekend,
most needed work,
i bought this one for $100
there was absolutly no pitting, one small dent, the bead was perfect
and it came with a great tail light stand, and perfect nuts and bolts
all the others were in the $50-$100 range
this picture was taken after a day in the electrolysis tank, most of the paint came off aleady

the secret is getting there early with the money
he also had a perfect keyed scroll handle
and the package deal was $100 for both
ive already got the cylinder out and had the correct key for it
i am happy :)

Sorry to change the subject, but is that tubular rear bumper cross brace original for the car? My car ('31 S/W) had a tubular cross brace, but it looked funny, like it was homemade. And the JS, etc. always say that 30/31 cars had a stamped cross brace.

Thanks,
Doug

Doug, yours will be the stamped style but depending on how late your car is, it might have the later reinforced type. Hollar if you need a picture showing the differences.

I have reproduction rear fenders on my '30 Coupe. They are advertised by Bratton's as the "best on the market". The fit is perfect. I have been very pleased with the purchase. Gar Williams

So that everyone is singing out of the same "hymnal", the good Coupe/Roadster fenders that Steve is inquiring about are manufactured by Albrecht Towing and are available from the better dealers. The fit is decent out of the box, --and they can be fine-tuned to fit even better and be more authentic looking. The Sedan/Phaeton rear fenders lack in several areas, ...and are not interchangable with the Coupe/Roadster fender.

I bought a pair of those fenders from AlbrechtTowing in the late 80's,at the time they were truly plug-and-play.

I got a left rear 29 Pk Up fender from Gas Light, and it was super nice. Had just a bit of (fitting) to get the running board to line up but very happy with the quality. Iceman

and I thought they fit pretty well. I wasn't looking for perfect, but it didn't take much work to mount them. Overall quality looked great.
