This has me stumped, its got a modern solid brass plug on the bottom but looks more detailed than the current reproductions and has the fancy screws. Thoughts?

I haven't paid attention to repros or years but that is how they looked in the 70's. Also the thermometers had such a narrow angle of view that you had to mount the Motometer slightly rotated to read it from the drivers seat.

I was at an antique auto and parts auction last weekend. They advertised many parts as 'New in the Box' and NOS when in fact a great deal of it was early 70's repop parts. A lot of Rick's stuff plus his old catalogues.

It then dawned on me that today these parts are 40 years old and in 1971 when I started the hobby, original Model A stuff at that time, was 40 years old.

here is a well used original motometer
it is much easier to photograph this than the NOS ones
notice the detail of the wreath and screw heads
the reproductions are much blurrier the screw heads just have some marking on them ,
whereas the originals have a little flower or 4 lobed figure thats distinct
the leaves in the wreath are much clearer as are the berries
the face plate has crisper letters on the back for "summer" and "average"
as far as reproduction parts, its not a bad copy for the 30-31s ,
of course they dont make a good 28-29 reproductions at all
