Replacing front crossmember

While assembling my 30 ccpu I realize the crossmember is a 28/29. It looks like I have to pull the engine in order to change it out. Do I take the ****** with the engine or disconnect the bell housing? Any other ideas? Thanks

cant you add spacers or something to change the radiator position or am I thinking on how to fit a 28/29 on a 30/31 crossmember?

Do you know when in 1930 your cab was made?
Remember the first several months of 1930 trucks still looked like a 1929.

Ford did not make replacement 29 front cross members but told their dealers to add spacers under the 30-31 frt cross member to make up the space under the radiator as everything else would work for a 29 frame using a 30-1 front cross member. It seems very strange to have a 30 frame with a 20 front cross member as that is exact opposite of what is most often seen when a frt cross member is changed out.

If it was me and it was going to be a driver and the truck was all to gather. I would cut the radiator mounts out and lower them to the hight of the 1930 cross member. Then weld them back in. Changing the cross member is not going to be fun.
