I have a friend who just got a 1930 coupe. He wants to replace the clutch in it and asked if he should drop the rear or pull the motor. I've never done one so I cant advise him. What is the easiest way?

The answer is "there is no easy way" to replace the clutch.

Seriously, I have settled on pulling the engine and ******, doing what needs doing while the engine/****** are out of the car, and reinstalling the whole shebang together. I tried it several different ways. Others have different opinions, of course, not to mention levels of patience.

i like pulling the motor ! no need to pull more . you will need an input shaft to align the clutch disc ............. support the trans with a jack to help on alignment ...........
also there are 2 bolts in the flywheel housing inside the wish bone . dont forget them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take the engine & trans together.. While out it does not take that much more time to look a trans bearings etc.. Lots of times its well worth it !!..
