Replace '52 F1 rear axle ***'y

Guys,
Is there a drop in or close to a drop in rear end assembly that
will provide a higher ratio selection for a '52 F1 ? Drive shaft compatibility
is not a problem, wheel lug pattern is.
Gracias,
Charlie ny

57-72 F100 rear ends. Just read the tags on the axle if still there. A LOT of them are 3.70's, but you can always switch the center out or swap in ring and pinion. The spring perches are in the same spot, you just need to figure out the shock brackets. If you can find F2 shock mounts, it's more or less a true bolt in.

67-72 have larger (wider) rear drums.

Others have used Dana 44's. Theres a ton of threads on this subject.

Charlie, Green Monster is correct. I did one of these swaps about 5 years ago using the rear from a 58 ford I/2 ton. Everything bolts in except the shock brackets need modification. I was in an old salvage yard and found that the shock brackets from a 48-54 Dodge pickup worked for me and bolted right on.

i use a 1970 1/5 ford 9 in rear axel bolts right in i flipped my shocks upside down so the upper part of the shock tube would clear the frame drilled holes into the the tube drain any water works just fine

type (High Q Ties ford 9" info )in your server search box, it will take you to a site that gives ratios and lengths for 8 ,8.8 and 9" rear axles and other info

57 thru 72 9in. direct bolt in.. lower shock bkts. are same on 57- 66. 67-72 are different.I got mine out of a 63 F100.It has 3:54 gears. Donor truck had a 272 Y Block. Good luck

There are still new carriers and gear sets available for the OEM Dana 44. I would call one of the suppliers of rear axle components and check with them before replacing the whole thing. The Dana 44 is a relatively decent rear axle and was used for many years and by several manufacturers.

Charlie, rotorwrench knows of what he speaks. :) Dana 44 parts are readily available. I'd go so far as to say they're more than decent. Used in jeeps for years, they're known very well by most 4x4 repair shops.
