repair model A wheels

Anyone know of someone that can repair/straighten model A wheels?
I read a few threads on straightening and welding cracks in wheels, but I'm not set up to do the straightening.
I have one wheel that wobbles, out of round by about 1/4".

The other wheel also wobbles, but it also has 3 of the lug holes worn to oval shaped; one is too large for the lug nut insert to touch the sides. (It was mounted as the spare when I bought the car.)
Any help would be appreciated.
Bob

Location on where the wheels are would help us recommend someone to repair your wheel, The 2nd wheel you mentioned will likely cost too much to repair as it is quite time consuming to weld up and remachine the lug area properly. A "crutch" for worn lug holes are washers made specifically for this but remember that Model-A wheels are not pilot located and use the 5 lug nuts to support the vehicle weight.

Contact Bert's Model A in Denver, Colorado. They can sell you a wheel. Tell them what you need. Even with shipping to SC it will be cheaper than the repairs on your wheel.

Wheels are quite common. Ask around or put up some free ads here and on craigslist and I am sure you will find better candidates.

Keep in mind Ford allowed .125" and it should be checked with a dial indicator. I mounted mine to a front hub so I could spin them.

By the way, I believe Bert's can check out the wheel and make adjustments as necessary. (If I remember correctly)

Wallowed out lug holes can sometimes be used by using a 1 inch SCTA racing type lug nut.

A friend welded a piece of square tubing to a spindle & hub assembley, that fits his hitch receiver on his truck, for checking wheel wobble at swap meets. Bill W.

What if you welded the washers in place?

I have a original set of spoked wheels 6 of them my tudor had the 2 front spares on the fenders they are for sale but the tires have to go with them tires and wheels are in excellent shape white walls tires are like new, and with the original hubcaps I can send pics gary columbus ohio 614-378-1342

If you buy washers and weld them in place, you will destroy the studs in a short time. Then the job gets really expensive.
The nuts normally drive on the taper. No taper, pretty quick no stud.
