Repaint or not?

Should I paint the pan below my grill gray or leave it blue?

The pan area that is in between the bumper and the grill on my 54 Ford is currently the color of the car (blue). Original color for this area would be gray. I have the bumpers off for chroming. Should I live the area blue or go original gray? The blue looks good but the gray might make the rechromed bumper and grill POP more.

I say leave it because if I start to do one thing then I notice something else, then something else, then something else, and eventually my quick, cheap job turns into an expensive under taking and causes furious wife syndrome.

The one on my 54 was a dull silver. I made it body color and never regreted the decision.

The grey paint is actually called Argent silver. It is a very durable enamel that is even resistant to oil and gas. Some auto restoration places still sell it in aerosol spray cans. The choice to leave it as is or change it to the original color depends solely upon your taste. Its your car.
I went with the Argent silver on my '55 splash pan, because I had enough left over from painting the oil bath air-cleaner. But my front anti-sway bar is painted green of all things, because I had run out of black.

57 fords have the same thing going on , I painted mine argent silver a lot of guys paint them the body color , I prefer the silver.

Eastwood has the argent silver in aerosol cans,if that's what you decide and if the car is a non custom restoration it would be correct.I painted mine black satin since it is semi-custom which gives the grille a floating look.
