Removing sloppy welds from a 41 pickup frame?

Hi folks, thanks for all your prior help! My new situation (perhaps shared by others?)is: I bought a 41 half ton pickup with 1958 license plates from a farm in northern California. The bed was missing, & someone welded huge brackets onto the frame, (possibly to make it into a water truck). I cut the large brackets off with a radiac, but the ugly, protruding welds remain on the frame. I can use the radiac for cutting, but not for grinding. I end up gouging the frame with the radiac. Can someone recommend a tool that will better grind off those (amateur, sloppy) welds without hurting the frame? Thanks in advance! John

You may have to use a die grinder and small grinding stones to get into tight corners and smooth out the welds.
