removing rivets

I have a wide bed pickup I'm restoring. I've started removing the rivets that hold the bed together so I can get it dipped in acid and primered, then to see what I will need to do to repair the metal. I purchased one of those tools that you place over the rivet and drill it out, this doesn't seem to work well, I would guess the rivets are hard from the heat. I thought about using a grinder but I'm concerned I'll damage the sheet metal. Any suggestions, is this the best way to restore the bed?

Thanks,

Kevin

Kevin, just use a spring loaded center punch to dimple the head first, then use a good-quality drill bit and a slow turning drill motor to remove them one at a time. Quality work just takes time and there are generally no short cuts. Don't be impatient.
