removing dash 36 Ford Pickup

Is this easy? It appears that it is spot welded thru the lower windshield opening. By removing these spot welds and the side bolts, will the dash lower and be removable? Also, on a related note- is there an after market windshield operator sold? Mine is gone. thank you all.

The dash is not designed to be removed.

The windshield regulator for the 36 pickup is the same as the passenger car and carries part # 48-701325. Rebuilt units and repro units show up on ebay quite often.

Drake is supposedly reproducing the w/s regulators. Haven't seen one yet. Maybe it is on back order. lol

I now see that the dash is welded on each side, and not bolted in on the sides from the hinge fasteners. I am going to remove it anyway, to better blast the area and fix up the vent pivot, which seems to be sub par.

thanks for the input, this is my high school ride, bought in 1965 and in storage since 1975.

I think that you might be removing a lot of the strength built into that cab if you remove it. Accordingly, I would weld in a temporary support piece across the door jams to support the cab while you have the dash out. Then, of course, you would have that temp piece in the way as you work on the vent area so I'm not sure what you would gain. 2 cents worth.

PS, a friend just got his Drake window regulator recently for his '36 pickup.

Your cab looks super nice, why in the world would you try to remove the dash? I had some rust up underneath mine, and yes it's hard to reach, so I just hand sanded & scraped best I could, then sprayed rust converter\primer on it, now it is all sealed and nobody can see it anyway. The cowl vent hinge was lubed and it works smoothly.

"Fools rush in where angels fear to tread." I'ld leave it alone. I would not think of removing the dash on my 35. Any rust in that area couldn't be all that bad.

I decided not to remove the dash. Too much effort for little return. Thanks for your input. Also does anyone know if the passenger 1934 regulator work?
