removing a locked handle

I just put a rebuilt handle on my 29 Sport Coupe, locked it, tried to unlock it and the cylinder turns completely around and will not retract the lock bar. Is there any way to remove the handle without destroying it???

Have you tried taking out all the screws --both the handle and the latch ----I havn't tried it on a sport coupe, but I have done it on some non Fords.

Have you consulted with the person that rebuilt it?
 
You cant remove the handle from the latch without being able to turn the handle and you cant remove the latch without removing the handle first.
 
on the end of the lock cylinder there is a little pin that has been broken off that is why it just turns around, so the cylinder is junk but the handle is still good drill the cylinder out and find a better one to put in there, let me know if you need some pictures of what is inside, John 31avicky@comcast.net
