Removeing Front Shocks from my 38 Ford

Guys-Going to remove my front shocks from my 1938 Ford Standard for rebuild. Question-do I put jacks under frame or axle to remove shocks-Also have never been off car so how hard are they to remove-Thanks for your help

No jacks required, there is no pressure one way or the other on the shock, it just resist movement. Two bolts hold the shock onto the frame. I have always found the shock links to be the hardest part to remove. They are a tapered fit similar to a later tie rod end.

Go to a post Dated 4/19/15 titled Removing Rear shock links / it will give you ideas how to get them off in the process of removing your shocks.

Do you have someone for rebuilding or are you going to do it yourself?
I am having to do the same to my 38 standard, but have be considering replacing mine with tube type shocks. Which do you think would be better?

Nothing wrong with original - I have tube on the 39 and I like them a lot so personal preference

Going to let Bill Wzorek rebuild them-He is on this forum (senior member)-Im sure the tube shocks ride a lot better but like keeping the old 38 as original as possible-Thx Dan
