removeable band ears won't come off

hello- cant get ears off- i think ive got to fixate band near edge of ear and then slide the ear back closing the gap-----but the ear is too tight to do so----any one got any ideas? i'm thinking about using a thin dremel blade to cut along the clips partial depth allowing both band and ear to be reused----difficult to explain. see picture. also difficult to explain what i mean. the clip cant be bent up as its too thick

There should be a small square opening in the steel band just below & between the detachable clip - insert flat blade screwdriver tip into hole and pry down & back at the same time - it'll pop off.

All Ford style removable ear bands have a small sq. hole on the leading edge of the demountable side. Ford Service Chapter XIII notes to use a 'tool', and what works best is a small bent tip screwdriver to lift apart the ear from the band. To replace the ear, pull forward firmly until you hear the 'click' of the ear lugs engaged.
