Remove Steering column 37 Pickup

I have a 37 Ford Pickup and need to remove the Steering column. My question is there is a collar where the steering column shaft goes down into the steering box. I have loosed the collar and unbolted the column shaft under the dash board. Do I just PULL the shaft out of the steering box? or is there something else I need to do to pull out the steering shaft?

You need to remove the steering wheel and headlight switch, then the column slides up the the steering shaft. If you have the original light switch this needs removing off the steering box as there is a little half circle retainer that holds the switching rod in place. Also to do in the vechicle is a mission as you need to take the back window out as the cab is not big enough to slide the column over the shaft.I've been there done that many times on my 37.Cheers Kiwi tony.
