removal of left engine splash pan

I have a 1937 60 hp and I would like to remove the splash pan on left side. But i seems to me that this is a little tricky. Do I have to dismantle the steering arm to get it of? The steering arm goes through the pan.....
(The 60hp pans are different from the 85hp)

Yes, you have to remove the pitman arm.
