There have been a couple of threads on bypass filters, housings, etc, that have me completely confused. I'm getting ready to get the filter housing for my 8CM engine with the 95% filtration mod. Looking for remotes, there are bypass adapters, bypass filters, remotes with filter bypass, without filter bypass, etc. Other than getting a filter with anti-drain back valve, I'm lost about the remote housing. Do I need a housing with a filter bypass in it? The ones I find open at 25 psi. It looks like it would let a lot of unfiltered oil through. It seems that they are for hydraulic applications, but I read that spin on filter applications on modern engines have a bypass built in. Can someone send me in the right direction for a housing for my application? Right now I'm thinking of a frame mount because of (1) being out of the way, and (2) with the housing lower than the engine, the lines won't drain back into the engine and have to be refilled on startup.
