REM Automotive Parts Inc is represented by many parts houses including Macs and Ecklers. Collectors Auto Supply also sells their products. REM provided the photos and descriptions. I have purchased several items from Collectors Auto Supply from Ebay including Front Kick Panels, Carpet, door panel, and the colored cardboard for the rear deck of my 1952 Crestline Victoria. As we all know, Sometimes the parts aren't used when they arrive since we are not ready yet. I have roughly laid out the carpet and pad and it seems to fit fine. I just finished removing all the flaky, rusty metal out of the trunk area. I removed the cardboard from the rear wheel well area that was still intact enough that I figured I could make a pattern. Then an email ad came from Collectors Auto Supply and I saw they had the trunk cardboard available. I ordered a set and paid the $191. Which seemed on the high, but reasonable side and my cardboard cutting skills aren't the best. Some weeks later the package arrived, sooner than their original estimate. Collectors did keep me very well informed though out the process. Opened the box and there was only one side. In the picture you can see the original and the larger new piece approximates the original piece. I have no idea what the smaller new piece is for. The ad says 2 piece for 1952-54 Ford and lists a couple models mine included. The picture shows both sides and has a caption saying the photo is generic. I would not have paid almost $200 for one piece of cardboard. And who only needs ½ of the trunk cardboard. I called Collectors up as they are a drop shipper and sent them the photo. The gal I spoke to did not dismiss my view. She will talk to the manufacturer. I hope they just send me the other piece. Since they are flat, making two is not much more than making one. If not I will dispute with my credit card. I will let you know what happens. Collectors got back to me and no second piece will be coming from REM. I told Collector’s gal I would never have paid close to $400 for two pieces of cardboard. She said they will refund my money and let me keep the piece I already received. I have not found anyone who sells the 3/23 black cardboard by searching online. I have yet to talk to anyone local who may point me in the right direction as I am leaving on vacation. I may just buy another of the 1 side from Collectors once I get the refund as that’s what I originally thought I was getting. Moral of the story? If anything doesn’t look quite right, call and ask. I would still use Collectors again.

I can’t tell from the small pic on my phone, but it looks similar to the black backer board that many upholsterers use for door panels. Is there an upholstery supply place near you? If you’d post your location I could have Googled it for you, but since it’s secret you’ll have to do it.

Got my refund from Collectors Auto Supply Today. Believe it or not at my advanced age I know how to use Google.(tongue in cheek). I saw a few with Uncolored door panel board. They are relatively stiff. I have some precut for the Ford that I will measure the thickness and test the bendability. I actually have a guy who does auto uphostery out of his home a few miles from me that I have used for several jobs like installing the headliner I just haven't had time to ask him and see if he is still doing it. Problem is you find someone who does good work and reasonable price and they get old on you. I have Dark green cardboard for the kick panes and rear deck and the black for the trunk wheel well piece so someone sells it. I haven't figured out what I need for behind the back seat yet, probably a piece of black cardboard also. I live in San Jose CA so lots of possibilities. Just haven't had time to thoroughly look yet.

Check Hobby Lobby for the black cardboard. There has to be one in your area.
