Relining Brake Shoes

I currently have moulded bonded brake shoes on my '35 Cabriolet. I'm thinking of changing them to woven linings. I would like to use the shoes that I have now. Can anyone recommend a brake business that would be able to install woven linings bonded to my brake shoes? My current shoes do not have rivet holes. Thanks.

YOU CAN'T BOND WOVEN LININGS TO YOUR SHOES. TOO MANY GAPS, MUST BE RIVETED. secondly THEY WILL BE NOISIER THAN HELL AND EAT INTO YOUR CAST DRUMS. DON'T TRY IT.

Hewe- I've read that woven linings are best for our cars. Are you saying not to use woven linings or just not to have them bonded? If riviting is the better method, where do I get shoes that have the holes drilled into them? I was told not to buy repro shoes that are available. Can my current shoes be drilled to accept rivited linings? All advice is appreciated.

It is unusual to find '35-'36 shoes without the rivet holes. What you heard was correct, woven linings were original equipment on your car. They tend to be the better choice for mechanical brakes, what chews into drums is the use of steel rivets or letting the linings wear out before replacing them.

Any brake shop that caters to commercial trucks can bond woven linings to your shoes. I've had bonded woven shoes on a 37 for 5 years and wouldn't even think of having rivets due to lack of availability of wide 5 drums. Why risk chewing up a good drum also they are not noisy.
