This might be a question for a person with limited knowledge ( that's me ) to ask. Does a relay have to be 6 volt or 12 volt to be used in my 47 stock car or does it matter ?

If your system is 6v you need a 6v relay

The rated voltage is the voltage that is expected on the relay coil to energize the relay.

What do you want a relay for: if it’s for an original horn the metal one is what you’re looking for. If are hiding one under the dash the plastic ones are cheaper.
The plastic ones come both 6 and 12 volt, so be sure you get the right one for your application.

Thank you guy's that sure help's because I had bought the 12 volt and didn't notice until I got home. Back to Carquest tomorrow, no one to blame but me. Thanks again.
