Reinstall steering wheel

I am attempting to put a new steering wheel on my '38 Standard Coupe. Unfortunately I didn't take it apart. How does the horn button go together? Is it button, then spring, then brass ferrule and then clamp retainer ring to shaft assembly? Don't want to put it together wrong as it is a chore in a Coupe to install this long shafted assembly Thanks for help, drawing or diagram!

Thanks Mike but this diagram doesn't show the assembly of the horn button (part 3616 in the drawing). Part 3616 is like a clamshell with a couple of parts sandwiched in between the button and the base with the long shaft. Thanks for the diagram though as it will verify how the bottom of the shaft is assembled in the car.

Assume your referring to the parts inside of the horn button?

If I recall correctly, there were 4 tabs that get bent over to lock the polished (chrome) bezel in place. The bezel also locks the horn button in place. While you have the horn rod out and apart, now would be a good time to replace the horn ground wire that is in the center of the rod. The wire must be taut for the ground to work properly. The metal that makes up the tabs could fatigue very easily. be careful not to overwork them.
