Regulator question

After driving slow in a hot 4th of July parade, my model A hasn't been running well. I cant get it to stay at a consistent idle. It also is hard to catch when starting. Its like fine tuning the idle lever on the column. It is either a fast idle or it stalls. I rebuilt the tillotson carb but it seems like I have to open the GAV a turn and a half to have enough fuel. Spark plugs were very light color.

What are the symptoms of a bad regulator?

Parades are fun but I find them very hard on my car. I now avoid them except for very special occasions.

I assume the OP is referring to the carburetor as the regulator?

Get the burnout proof one made by A&L that is now sold by A parts vendors—- so far mine has survived over 40 parades.

My A started doing this on a recent drive. It turned out to be a loose bolt attaching the carb to the intake manifold and it was sucking air. Simple fix.
