Red Tape & Historic Plates ??

In Ontario, Canada you MAIL in your original YOM plates to the central ministry of transportation office with a cheque. They look to make sure the colour is correct and that the number is available for registration. They mail it back if everything is OK. Then you take the plate to a local office where they register it to your vehicle, charge you for the annual renewal, and give you a sticker for it. Oh, but first they look at you like you don't know what they're talking about because they've never seen a YOM plate before, but they check with their manager who has at least heard about it. The plate is classified like a 'personalized' plate so no historic vehicle plate restrictions, but you pay full annual renewal cost. Ontario 'historic vehicle' plates have cheaper renewal but do have restrictions.

Wi has a simple YOM rule that you register as an antique and carry that plate in the vehicle and then you can display any YOM plate without registering it. Few people in WI seem to use YOM plates because they can only be used under the restricted use antique conditions. WI also has a collector plate with one time registration and only one driving restriction. You can't drive in January when you normally wouldn't want to. The collector plate which most people have because of the unrestricted use can't be used with a YOM plate.

See above for NC. Find a YOM tag, wipe it clean, bolt it on. I keep my antique tag under the seat.
