Red Glass Lense

I have purchased a 1914 gas cowl light. It is the steel type with brass trim.
The issue is, I want to use it for the tail light. The clear glass needs to be red. The knuckle draggers at my two local glass shops don't want anything to do with it. What are my options for a red lense? Paint looks like paint. Any sources for the red glass out there?

Is this the round style or square? It may say14 but that is just a patent date. It sounds like you may have a 15 cowl light. Easy to find and change the complete door but may not find one with the brass trim. These 15 lights have more value than the later all steel lights. You would have no problem trading your light for a true tail light.

It's a beveled square glass. I would have held out for an actual tail light, but this is the first I saw of either in many months.

You could cut a piece of the prism area from an old tail lamp lens and put it behind the clear lens, or use a red LED lamp with your clear lens.

Brewkid, great use of a red LED! I put an old steer skull over the barn door and wired in red LEDs & a resister in the eye sockets. It's run on an old six volt battery too bad for starting a car but they last a few more years to run a light. I vote he use a red LED.
