Recognize this tool?

usually the type that puts a dimple in the lug, like your old tool, are used for high strand count cable, such as welding or battery type cable in which the finer strands can be displaced with the crimp. coarse larger gauge strands use a tool that creates a hex crimp on the lug, or maybe a triangular crimp like the pic that silvertop has posted.

Meybe it's fur GAPPIN' 6X sparkplugs:confused:?? James, across the street has one sumptin' like that, made by STANLEY. Bill "thinks" it's fur settin' saw teeth. James also has an ooold round tailight lens, but it AIN'T fur a Model A!

No Tiny - because it straighens two tooths simuntaniously- not one, it is a teeth straightener. And you ARE right, they (who are those 'they' guys ?) DID invent the teeth-brush here. However, once the marketing gurus on Madison Avenue got hold of it, they slicked up the promotional aspects of the new gimmick with a more marketable name ("Tooth") - Much like they did with 'Stink Fish', which they renamed 'Tuna'. Which was also first discovered in Eureka, CA.
By the way, Speaking of Eureka (Greek word for "I have found it") Harvey Harper Ford, here in Eureka, was the third FORD Dealer Franchise to be established in California, about 1914 or so. Since the HUGHSON FORD dealer in S.F. (first dealer in the west - 1903) went under thirty years ago or so, the Harper Ford Dealership is one of the oldest Ford Dealerships in California, in continuous operation since 1914. And their Parts Dept. STILL carries the mysterious 'Ford Tool' that first started this thread. (The Parts Manager is studying Dentistry on the side - (not sure if there is a connection).

It does look like a saw-set, but it is not. Saw-sets have an anvil that the plunger pushes the tooth against to "SET" them and ultimately the width of the kerf.

Could be one of those left handed board stretchers, but the handles should be red. I know this because the right hand board stretchers have blue handles. :o)

It's the other way around--left is blue; right is red!!

If there made in Eureka wouldn't it be a tooth straightener? Not to many sets of teeth over there :D. Didn't they invent the tooth brush there? Any where else it would have been the teeth brush:):D:)!!!

It's for pulling hen's teeth!
