I received my an Allen Distributor Machine today, Don P. and I checked everything on machine, works correctly for Ford,(1932-48)
need to know if anyone has source for the different adapters and small parts for different distributors/governors.

that looks like all you have to do is take the flathead adapter out of the chuck and top clamp and a regular dist will go right in.

OK, now this past year my Alled distributor burned up. Completly destroying the internals. this must have happened when I wasn't in the shop. Fortunately the cabinet contained the fire. I had left it plugged in, something in the old wiring failed causing the fire. I think. I was able to save the motor and drive system and just use a coil to fire the strobe and an aftermarket dwell tach.. Just luvky I guess.

Yes you were RON, always disconnect the vintage iron and vintage electrical equipment. Had a Model A recently that the Horn ( which is fed hot all the time) go bad/short for an unknown reason. After getting a call from the family that car would not start, they told me that the car smelled of electrical type odor and the amp meter was dark. If not for the amp meter melting and opening the circuit, car would have probably caught fire. ( stored in old wood feeding shed ) Several people I know have a power strip and just hit one toggle switch and kill all portable tools.
( if you have any parts/adapters that you do not intend to use, I would be interested )

Russcc, the machine is at Don P.'s, we have used it several times. First we got the vacuum line working again, it was stopped up in the 4 way fitting under the top. Next we adjusted the drive motor, that unit unlike the Sun machine Don owns has a contactor that drops out the motor pulley so that the rubber drive wheel does not get a flat spot on it. Found that problem, cleaned and adjusted. Next we removed the rear upper panel and replaced the 110volt lamps that were bad and installed the smallest CFL bulbs I could find. Next we found that the 8, 6 and 4 cyc. switch on dash did not do anything, Don looked and looked and found two small wires that had came off the selector switch. Seems to have corrected that problem. NOW we have a thread that no one has responded to, it is how to calibrate the dwell meter. We have several dwell meters and everyone is different. Thank you for the help and it is a good unit and will serve me and others for years to come. Just needing a little care and attention, like everyone!

Need a 1.Muf capacitor 200 volts, one - 500Muf capacitor 1.5V, and one 5000Muf capacitor 1.5V. This will replace all the capacitors in Allen Machine.
