Installed a rebuilt Zenith 3 carb today. Turned on the fuel valve and it started to leak from a small diameter brass plug in the casting along the GAValve, Any suggestion for repair.

Taken of the mike´s A fordable parts catalog!!

99% Of the time, the problem is not in the carb, but the gas line fitting that fits into the carb. Either the ferrule is damaged or the line is just not fitted correctly, causing the gas to leak out and run down around the carb. This in turn gives the impression that the carb is leaking at the gasket.
If your ferrule is leaking order a new line - A9240B or C - See Page ___.
Another major problem is the condition of the Shut Off Valve, so often they are the original, and are in need of replacement or repair. Check to make sure that both of these areas are carefully looked at before blaming your carb, and un-neccesarily starting a repair or rebuild job that could have been avoided.

My Carb leaked around the GAV assembly (GAS ADJUSTING VALVE) after I rebuilt it I took the valve back out and put some Plumbers teflon base pipe dope on it on the threads and that cured the problem ...If this is a screw in plug Then I would do that ...If it is one of the press in brass plugs you may have to replace it ...

If it is actually leaking at the small brass plug down by the GAV valve is is likely because the person who rebuilt the carburetor drilled out the original plug to clean the passageway and then installed a new repo plug that does not seal off.

You can try to peen the plug more with a hammer and a small punch. You can also try to force some JB weld around it to try to seal it.
