Rebuilt Alternators

I bought a rebuilt 6 volt positive alternator from some one a while ago, I think he is Oklahoma, I need another one. Does anyone know him?

That was sorta' weird. There is no current user named "larrybaker". Perhaps it it is somehow related to "bassmanb" . If so this may happen from time to time until he gets bored and moves on.

Is it alternators from South Carolina that we have worry about

Mike K. mentioned that many of the old alternator conversions put out too many volts. Aren't the ones from South Carolina the better ones with the lower volt output?

I don't like an alternator on a Model A, but if a guy is going to do it anyway, then at least buy the one with the voltage that doesn't keep ruining batteries and burning out bulbs.

External regulator would be the only choice I can see. I have not found and internal regulators other than 7.4 volts.

Our alternators with internal reg.the regulators are preset from the factory to work at 13,5 volts if your overcharging your regulator must be bad. 6 volt at 8.5 volts.

I wonder why the overvoltage is so much higher for the 6 volt batteries.

6 volt is for "older" cars. As such the cars often have bad wiring and bad connections. The additional voltage is to over come these voltage drops and provide enough voltage to the battery. Our A's with shorter wires, virtually no accessories and proper care don't often have these voltage drop problems and the higher voltage of these alternators shorten the life of batteries and bulbs.
