rebuilding '30 tudor

Started to dismantle my brand new project today.(see avatar) Didn't know quite where to start but the previous owner had started to take the rear side window regulators out so I decided to finish that. I've already done a AA truck so I'm not a complete novice in this. However, I am going to need some direction in how the glass comes out of these windows. If someone broke a glass in years past and took it to be repaired, I'm sure the repairman didn't have to dismantle the top to get the glass out. I would be greatfull if someone would take the time to post how this is done. Also, since my only experience is with trucks I'm going to need a lot of help down the road. Thanks in advance.

Very Exciting N. Reed!! I remember when I was where you are now.. It has been such a great experience. Im still not done with my 30 tudor but soon enough i suppose. The fellas on this site are the best tool you will use. Everyone on here is nice and willing to help and full on knowledge! good luck and have fun!

The panel that the regulator attaches will need to be removed and the glass will need to slide down and be removed from the dottom. It may be easier if you can remove the rear felt lined chanel at the rear of the window. After the window clears the rear channel you can lift the window out backwards. Here is a pic of my 31 tudor with the panel removed that you will need to remove to get the side rear window out. I think that there is four slot head screws in the front and two in the back. if they are rusty, they can be a pain to remove.

Purdy, thank you very much! I already have the panel out and you are right. They were a real pain to get the screws out. I had good luck using PB blaster and a hand impact tool. As soon as the sun comes up I'll try getting the glass out and let you know how that goes.

I got the windows out just now. I found that taking the top window channel out (two small wood screws) and the two wood screws that hold the top of the side channels out, I could then pull the window out the top. Once I decided to do this, it only took about 15 minutes to do both windows. Purdy, yours being a '31 and mine a '30 could be the difference but I just couldn't see some mechanic having to take the back seat out plus removing some upholstery to replace a broken window. I have to assume that the new window will go in in the reverse order. Like the wife says, I could be wrong. I have been before.
