I'm still rebuilding all the model a ford speedometers if you need my help send me email jrnichols642@yahoo.com for more info. :)

I have just installed a "reconditioned" round face speedo in my 1930 CCPU. I don't know who did the job but it is no better accuracy than the one I took out. The previous one read very low, this one reads very fast. At 40 mph by the GPS, it reads nearly 50. How do I adjust it please?

If you are comfortable working with mechanical clocks, you can adjust the tiny spring in your speedometer to regulate the indicated speed. You will need a way to test it to see if you adjusted it to your satisfaction. I have used a battery powered drill motor. If the speedometer has not been serviced in a while you will need to add some drops of light oil to the working parts. 3 in 1 oil seems to work well.

If you feel that this is beyond your capability then send the instrument off to an expert.
