can sumone tell me what year pickup rearend to look for i nead one thats 58 or 60 inchs at the backing plates i want to retain the 5/1/2 bolt patern

If I am not mistaken ( and I may be ) the mid to late 70's truck rears were pretty wide. I don't remember the exact years but maybe this can be a starting point. Check out FTE for info if you havn't already. There was an article on FTE about rearend swaps into F1's. It listed several years and their widths. Maybe something to look into. The person who wrote the article goes by jniolin on FTE. He would have the info you are looking for.

+1 on the 70's and early 80's Ford trucks even some late 60's will work. I have a 71 9" under my 54 F100 that's 59" end to end.

type High Q Ties in your search box, it should take you to a site with most of the ford 8 and 9 inch rear information, gear ratios widths and axle spline counts

you need to measure from flange to flange to get the correct width as backing plates can be offset and most charts only give you total width (drum to drum). The brake offset is different and can range from 2" to 2 1/2".

http://completeoffroad.com/files/how_to_measure_ford_9_axles.pdf

so if you looking for a small bearing rear then the range would be 63"-65"
and the large bearing would be 62.75"-64.75"

so with the 5 on 5 1/2 bolt pattern is the 73-86 F150 at 65.25" (78-86 Bronco is the same) I THINK these are big bearing, not sure though.

the 57-72 F100 rears are 61.25"

I believe those are all the 5 on 5 1/2 rears of that size. The early bronco's are 58"
