Whats trhe best way to put tube shocks on the rear of a 36 . thanks for any info.

Ford made the bolt on forgings for the rear axle that attach to the rear two brake backing plate bolts for the 1947 & 48 models. These can be adapted to near any banjo type rear axle. For the upper attachment you'll have to get more creative to attach a stud to the rear crossmember or frame. A number of different aftermarket manufacturers made conversion kits back in the day. I see them on the e-pay now and then.

Here is a page from a 1949 Houdaille shock Catalog.

I have those same forgings, far right picture, I like the upper mount design, I was wondering how I was going to do mine. Now I know.

Funny ,i have a set of the left picture but dont really like the way they fit or look. why couldnt a guy use the shock arm link hole in the radius rod casting to mount a stud there and go to frame with other stud, should shocks be at a angle or straight up and down?

Straight up & down is good. The shock should be as close to the arc movements as possible to prevent binding but the rear axle can move in two planes so you just have to split the difference. I wouldn't want to angle any more than 20 degrees to the center of either arc of travel laterally or longitudinally.
