Rear Spring

Somewhere buried in a recent post, it was stated that you can install a Model T rear spring in an "A" to lower the car somewhat. Is that so? Apparently a T spring is a bit narrower and shorter thus requireing it to be spread a bit further, but it is a lighter spring than an A spring which will result in lowering the rear of the body somewhat.

If this is so, it would be a better option than removing spring leaves or trying the difficult (& dangerous) task of installing a re-worked reversed eye spring. I'm going to do some measuring on my friend's installed Model T rear spring. Any thoughts?

i tried one . it was supposed to drop 1-2" . didnt work for me . i have reversed eye springs with some leafs out . good luck .. steve

Here is my car with T spring and two leaves removed.

Rear tires are almost exactly the same height as 19" Model a wheels and tires, so you can see how it sits now in the wheel well.

Why is it dangerous to install a reversed eye leaf? I've done several with nothing but a couple of G clamps..... no problem.
You need to know that a T spring is narrower in the width of the leaves, so you have to not only use spacers to take up the difference where the T spring sits up in the A crossmember, but also in the shackles. The T is 2" against the A's 2 1/4".

Just take your A spring. remove a few leaves and reinstall on bottom of the stack or remove and make a spacer to put on bottom to make up the height/
