Rear Panhard bar 41 convert

Folks,

I think my 41 would benefit from the fitment of a rear Panhard bar. Too much sideways movement in the rear.

I know that 46-48 cars had Panhards fitted, but my 41 has none of the mounting holes on the rear cross member.

The other thing, the rear wishbone doesn't seem to have any extra mounting points where the spring shackles attach. I have tube shocks fitted if that is pertinent.

Is there an aftermarket unit that would fit this application, or am I looking at specialised fabrication?

The 1942 thru 48 used a wider rear axle and the 41 is a one year only set up. If you use the later Ford track bar then it would need to be modified to shorten it somehow.

^^^Many thanks RW, I hadn't considered that.

Looks like some fab work is in the future. I'm thinking I could start with a 46-48 set up and have it modified.

Personally, I think it would be easier to start out with a chunk of 7/8" DOM tube and a couple urethane bushed rod ends from Pete & Jakes and build from there.

Rich, I hear ya, but I'm primarily an electrical guy, so will probably have the work done by others. Not my preference, but a mans gotta know his limitations.

I was planning to use the original crossmember bracket to save some fiddle, also the bar itself will be a useful reference for the guy doing the fab/bending work. I expect fab will be needed for the wishbone/axle attachment.
