Rear Motor Mounts

Has anyone replaced the rubber pads to the stock rear motor mounts with engine in car and if so what is the degree of difficulty?

It is not too difficult, I went back to original mounts from floaters so it was somewhat different but not much.

Side-mounted spare tires make this more difficult... Found this out when trying to convert stock mounts to floater-motor-mounts. The side spare mount does not allow the motor mount to be moved aft and out.

Recently I read that you use a bolt that is one inch longer than the stock bolts. This one longer bolt is easier to thread a nut on and pulls the parts together when the new rubber is thick. You tighten the nut then put and tighten the stock two bolts and nuts. Now remove the long bolt and replace with the stock bolt and nut. Don't forget the cotter pins.

That's a great idea, thanks

52 years ago I changed the rear mount rubbers, a little foggy how I did it LOL. The new rubber didn’t help my issues that much, recently changed to cast iron float a motor that really helped!!!

Removing and installing the mounting bolts use a 1/4" rachet and adapter on the socket to turn it in and out much easier.

I would recommend removing the passenger side motor mount completely first, because there is more room to work. Then remove and replace the driver's side motor mount. when that is done, finish replacing the passenger side motor mount. You will have to jack up the motor to take the weight off of the motor mounts.

Thanks Bill for the suggestion and thanks to all for the various ideas.
