rear ends

I bought a 15 touring that appears to be mostly correct for that year such as the vertical ribs on the pedals, the 15 motor no., but it has a rear end that has the axel tubes rivited to it. I have been told the rear end is from an older car. When did they stop making the rivited rear ends?

A picture would be helpful but it sounds as though you are describing one of the various riveted types that were last used through the end of the 1914 model year. If you car is an early 15 model it could have some transitional parts like an earlier style rear axle. Even when models were upgraded Henry always used up all the old parts first and there is some overlap on "correct" parts.

'15 has the rivet rear end, but only '15 also has the 'flat' backing plate. '16 and later have the gussets or ridges in the backing plate that added more strength.

The unique '15 only backing plate looks very much like the earlier rear axles.

Now if you mean that axle has rivets around the pumpkin, on the pumpkin body, now that is an earlier axle.
