Can someone tell me which stock rearend will fit under a 1941 ford coupe that's the right width and might be geared to a 302 and an Aod ******? I have a Lincoln Vers. that I had resealed and gone thru at Fearless Gear and now that the springs are installed they forbid useing that rearend. Any help would be appeiciated. It needs to be 58" to the face of the drum each way. Thanks. ==AL==

Friend is building a 40 PU, basically the same frame as your car. 302 Automatic, using leaf springs from a 50 Ford and a Granada rear end. Hope this helps you.

We used the granada 3.0 worked great. Stay away from a 9" heavy, ride like a truck, but they have the right wheel bolt pattern. WE used the Pinto Mustang front end so the bolt patterns were the same. We also used the comp cams 268 cam great sound and good cruise power . Edelbrock 500 cfm carb great mileage after we figgered out how to tune it.

The rear wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface distance of a 1940 Ford car is 59 1/2 in. That is the same as many of the late model Ford Explorers. Just a thought.

If you can live with the versaille rear, the versaille was the same body as the Granada I have one in one of my 32's, The disc brakes are real expensive to work on. My other 32 had an 8 inch from a mustang 2, I cant really tell you I see a big difference in ride between them.[actuallythey both get rougher riding each year!] Rich

Here are some rear end widths! Dave

I understand the Jeep charokee is a spicer 35 comes with 3.55's and posi. Also has 4 link suspension and 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern. If the right length, it would make the best rear for early fords. I don't have the width.

Used a 8" Granada-Monarch under my 35 .has a number of gears available. No need for the heavier 9".
68-74 Nova will also work. I just like the 8" better.

We installed an 8.8 out of a 99 explorer in Dad's 41 tudor. We used the Chassis Egineering Low rider parallel leaf kit. It fit great. He's running a mustang II front also so the bolt pattern is the same. The rear we used has 31 spline axles, 3:73 gears, factory locker, and even disc brakes. I built a nice 347 SBF for it and it's also running a c4 with 3000 stall. Makes for a really nice combo and best of all keeps it all FORD.
