That is interesting. Do you know approximately what year it is (width and spring hangers will tell) and what ratio is stanmped on the bottom? Seems like there is always something new under the sun with old Fords.

Hello! It is on a 33 cabriolet i think sold new to england and have the F after 18 on chassienumber .The axle have the 33 leaf and parts . But i go to take a size on it later today.

The bell house is in total from the gasket on the rearaxle center to
brake shield is 24 2/3 inch so this must be a -37 or up size or what ?

British Ford Pilot.
It's the anchor for the mechanical rear brake pivot.

I have 2 axles here.

Mart,

The Ford pilot had mechanical brakes in the rear, and hydraulic in the front!
Never seen that type of mount, but havent seen many anyway :-)

Not a Pilot axle, Lars, it might have come out of a Pilot, but not original to the car.
Pilot has wishbones similar to a 36.

I have one in Old Rusty and another one in the shed.

The axle ratio video I did featured a pilot axle.

Here's some pics.
