Am i missing something or do you read from bottom up? and how do i tell if i have already read a post? TKS Don

I think by default the new threads, or older threads that have a new responce are at the top. Once you have read a post the next time you come back to the main page the lettering for the post will be thinner that the unread posts, unless some has posted a new reply.

RE: new threads, or older threads that have a new responce are at the top Correct, and they are in bold type.

RE: next time you come back to the main page the lettering for the post will be thinner that the unread posts, unless some has posted a new reply... then the thread will again be in bold type.

Another tip - Instead of going thru 2, 3 or more pages of old posts to see the unread posts on a thread, you can go to the black bar near top of the page and click "Quick Links", then "Edit Options". Once there, scroll down to Thread Disply Options and Thread Display Mode. You should see a white window on the right side that probably says "Linear - Oldest First" . To make changes, click on the small black upside down triangle - it'll open a menu. If you want to read new posts first, click on "Linear - Newest First" , then go to bottom of the page and click "save changes". It will reverse the order in which the posts are listed within a thread.

Yeah, in case it is not clear yet. Threads or "topics" will float to the top whenever a new comment is added to that topic.

Once you click on that topic, however, you read (as mentioned) like a book.

You can think of it as if each thread is a folder. In each folder there is at least one page with a comment written on it. People can browse all of the folders they want to > all the way to the bottom of the pile. But if they want to write a comment on one of those pages they have to take the folder out of the pile to write on it and when finished > throw it on top of the pile.

It's actually pretty simple. Hope that helps.

I hear y'all, it might be a bit confusing sometimes:confused:. I was told a long time ago - "it gets easier with time" Yeah, okay.

I felt the same way when I tried overhauling the engine in my Mustang. Got to the point that I threw up my hands in frustration and coerced my brother the mechanic into doing it for me. I went back behind the counter, became a Ford Parts Manager and left the busted knuckle stuff to the real experts.

That was nearly 40 years ago and I never seriously twisted wrenches after that. Nowadays I write & edit repair manuals:rolleyes: .

But don't let it get to you, there's lots of great stuff to read & see here.
