Re-pop rumble hinges

I have a '29 Sport Coupe. I'm pretty much rebuilding the rear sheet metal starting from scratch. I will need replacement hinges, brackets, etc for the rumble lid.

Can you guys give me feedback on your experience with remanufactured hinges, triangle brackets, and braces? One thing I'm awfully puzzled about is the difference in cost - MAC's wants about $15 for a pair of hinges, some guys want upward of $60/pair. I'm kind of suspicious about quality and fit.

Thanks for your input!

I do not know about the repro parts that would be spot welded to the quarters.

For hinges I highly recommend finding original hinges for an original lid, even if you are doing a trunk conversion. The original hinges fit like a glove to the original lid.
Repro hinges just do not fit anything as they are just smaller in every dimension. So you end up fighting every step of the way.

You find a little bit more information here:

I agree with Kevin on the poor quality of the repro rumble hinges. I have some you can have for postage if you want them. It's worth paying a little extra for good originals. Usually don't have to look for long (eBay, etc.) for originals to show up and they usually go fairly reasonably. The repro triangle pieces I've used fit good, but not sure who they were made by.

Thanks, gents. One of these days, I'll wise up and read Kevin's website before I ask questions.

Hey, Randy, where in CA?
