Re-arch Spring

Anyone ever had a spring re-arched?The rear of my 41 sits about an inch or two lower than the front and I was thinking about getting the spring re-arched if I can find a place to do it and if its not to expensive.

I have arched a lot of springs for my own use and a few for friends. I draw 1/2 of the desired arch shape on carbboard and put the longer leafs in a press and shape them to the drawing with a series of SMALL bends. Flip the spring and do the other half off the same drawing. I did my 39 30 years ago and it still sits good. G.M.

I do my own making a template to start with and using the step on an anvil and a 8lb hammer with a short handle. You just work the length of the spring and compare it until you get the desired arch. This is the way the spring shops do it.

I was wondering if 1" of added arch = 1" of lift on car?
In my mind I think it should , Maybe , kinda.

I had SIDS reverse the eyes on mine and put a little arch in them. A lot cheaper than you think it would be. I think it was only like $40.

I paid $40 also up in Rochester, NY to get mine reversed. Look for a spring shop in your area or ask at a truck shop or recreational trailer place to give you a lead.

I used to do it years ago by using a big hammer and a couple of railroad rail sections. My shoulders are shot now, so it's much easier to give them to my local shop and pick them up the next day all done!

Spring shops do not reverse spring eyes, they re-arch the leaf in the other direction. Unrolling an eye and re-rolling it the other way would lead rapidly to fatigue.

Ok. How is that not reversing the eye? You just described the process of "reversing the eye" perfectly! And let's be reasonable about the amount of "fatigue" we are dealing with here. If you were to stress test 2 loaded springs (one stock and one reversed) I bet you would not find an appreciable difference in megapascal's of force.

I apologize to whomever above asked for their phone number. I just now aaw these posts. It is 314-533-2132

You misunderstand. I meant they re-arch the spring, they do not unroll the eye and roll it the other way. I probably did not explain it properly.
I thought I would add that info because not everyone knows that.
Also not every one knows you can do it yourself with a 10lb hammer and some solid steel (like railroad track), or a hydraulic jack.
