Rattles and squeaks

I got the chance to flog my 39 peeekup. Golly it is fun to work on a car again. I have been trying to help Lawson with his noise issue, so I checked my PU over. I leaned on the cab above the passenger door and the cab squawked. Turns out the spare tire rubs the cab back corner. Electrical tape on the cab fixed that.

Working under the vehicle I noted a brake line fitting was moving making a reddish-orange rust mark on the steel rear radius rod. The line clamps were in place and tight. Turns out the joint could move slightly and bang the radius rod. I sliced two short pieces of wiper hose, split them horizonally and installed them over the brake line. Always something to fix.

I sprayed the rear springs as best I could. Lots of rust came out.

With the hand brake on, the cable rubs the underneath of the rear radius rods. I have guide brackets (Ford #91A-2272 offered by Macs) installed.
I tried turning the brackets around but they won't mount that way. surely the cable doesn't run over the radius rods? Are they supposed to rub?

Clem: Put a spacer under the lower rear stud on the spare tire mounting plate to move the spare out a bit and clear the cab. Mine clears the cab about 1/8 inch. The way the spare mounts on a 35 PU was not one of Henry's better ideas. LOL
