ratchet nut

is there a washer between the crank pulley and the ratchet nut on a 21 stud motor? and is it a lock or a flat washer? thanks Brendan

Green book says Washer, doesn't look to be a lock; ID is .62" OD 1.54" Part # 022A 6332

ooppps that may not be the corrrect year but is the only one listed thats not a 90 or 100 HP there are several sizes!

Brendan, on the original 21 stud engines that I have, there is NO flat washer between the ratchet nut and the pulley. The later 59ab engines that I have do have a flat washer between the ratchet nut and the pulley. I think you could add a washer on the early 21 stud engines but then I'm not sure if you would have enough thread engagement of the ratchet nut into the end of the crank shaft.

As per the 1928-37 chassis parts list there is no washer between the ratchet nut and pulley.
