rare parts value

I just acquired a bunch of Model A parts, some of which I'm planning to sell. One is an intake manifold for two Zenith carbs, side by side. The other is the piece that goes around a 28-29 special or sport coupe where the fabric meets the body. I think these parts are rare and may have value. What do you guys think?

Is that intake a Trojan. Purdue Swoft has one one his speedster. It's a really cool piece. Let me know if you what to get rid of it. I may be interested.

I hope that special piece is worth a lot as I too have 3 of them. Only the special owners who need such a piece is going to want one

Silversink and Glenn, I need one of those molding pieces for the 54A coupe in my avatar at left, and I would like to buy one from one of you if you have both the tack strip and the outer trim. Please contact me with a PM or email.

Thank you.

Dad needs that piece for his special coupe also. He just left for 2 week, so kindof bad timing. Rod

I onlyn have one that is good and I want keep it for mine. The other 2 are wasted, the tack strips I have heard are available from restoration Specialties

Here is the Trojan intake manifold on my roadster. I bought this one on eBay. It came with two model A Zenith carbs that I didn't use and the linkage. The bidding went wild and I ended up paying six hundred dollars including shipping and have never re

Here is the Uni Flow dual updraft manifold on my speedster. This one is swan design with larger runners and way outperforms the Trojan manifold on my roadster. I bough this one from Steve Becker at Berts in the ninties and paid only One hundred and seventy five dollars. It doesn't look quite as cool as the Trojan but is my favorite.

Dad has about 1/3 of his. If you have a broken one with the other 2/3rd's, I could try to patch one together. Rod

The manifold that Charley Yapp produces is aluminum and is a copy of a Cragar manifold that was made back in the day. I have one that I bought direct from Charley. This manifold is also sold by Snyders with linkage for $269.95 and is pictured on page A-134 of the newest Snyders catalog and is called Vortex. The Vortex manifold has model A size runners but is probably the best new dual updraft manifold that is now made. The Piranios dyno tests shows that the Vortex dual updraft manifold with model A Zenith carbs gives a 10 horsepower increase on a stock model A engine. This style manifold with a carb near each intake port gives the best results. Cast iron, like the old original performance manifolds were made of is best because they have the same expansion rate as the engine and the flanges on the manifold where the carbs mount aren't as likely to sag from the weight of the carburetors and heat. Its not likely that new dual updraft cast iron manifolds will ever be reproduced. There was another dual updraft that Charley made in the ninties using the original model A manifold with both carbs side by side using a special throttle shaft that was connected. Because of the design of the original intake manifold, this type setup can't perform as well as the other dual updraft manifolds with larger runners, a flat top and a carb near each intake port. Usually with the original manifold modified with side by side carbs, the back two cylinders will run lean and hotter.

Ron, I have a complete set. Maybe even two sets. Let me know if you are interested. I could bring it to the Portland meet next April.
