I visited MAC's just a few weeks ago. They have just expanded their building, almost doubling it's size. This is the same building that they just moved into about four years ago. They are in the process of reorganizing their inventory to make it more efficient. As with any task of reorganizing large quantities of merchandise, day to day business is interrupted. Hopefully, their shipping time will improve as this is accomplished. MAC's, through their wholesale division, Specialized Auto, supplies many of the parts sold by most of the other parts suppliers.

As Mike V. Florida said, "I've tried alot of vendors over the years and never had a problem with any of them."

Most problems that people have are due to communication. Anyone who is business wants you to be happy with their products and service. But you need to let them know what you expect.

Sparky, my post is not directed at you. I only placed it under your post because you mentioned MAC's and I thought I could shed some light.:)

It's good to know they are trying to improve. I have had no problems with the parts I got from Mac's, it just got frustrating to place an order on Monday and then not have it shipped till Thursday or Friday.

I use Snyders. Like many have said, They box up your order and ship it out that day.
I placed my first two model a orders with mac's and it was a WEEK before they even got around to shipping it out. Never again.

Just a side note on this subject. I also ordered tires from these folks they added a 47 dollar shipping and oversize for the tires. (lucas) When I call in on monday they informed me the tires were drop shipped and there would be aproxametly 100 dollars added for shipping. Also they would be one month getting them shipped. I cancled the tire order at that point. Then I called lucas in Calif. Lucas had a better price assured me the tires were in stock and would ship that day also total shippiing was only 60 dollars I saved 120 dollars over the Macs price shipped?

RE: Macs; My most recent order (small order, items in stock)
Ordered 8/10/2011
Shipped 8/16/2011
Received 8/18/10

It took them 7 days to ship, only took the post office 2 days to get it here. NY to Alaska!

I used to order from Mac's when I first got the car, got some "gyp" parts and long shipping times. Now I mainly deal with Snyder's or A&L (about 20 miles away.

My preference would be Snyder's as I have not had a problem with them and I have spent a lot of money with them. My wife and I even took a day off and drove down there once. It was worth the drive. They are very personable folks.

PLUS, Tom Jordan (Snyder's Technical Advisor) has helped me through their online troubleshooting more times than I can count. I don't know what I would have done many times without his advise. I always have an answer within a day. How does any one person can know so much? Oh well........

I am also very impressed with their Catalog. It is very descriptive where many aren't. :o

Patients is a virtue, but to some it is a drag.

I do think you mean "patience", although as a veterinarian, I also subscribe to your sentence as written. :)

As for Mac's. I've always had good luck with them. And is it really, really that big of a deal to have someone take 3-4 days to process your order? We seem to live in a time of always needing instant gratification. Maybe you need a Star-trek synthesizer that will make anything you need. I also like that Mac's will bring parts to a show for free-I saved a lot by having bumpers and a cowl band brought to York, Carlisle and Hershey.

I have dealt with Berts, Synders, Brattons, Mikes and Macs with no problems regards parts quality. Postage was higher for Mikes and Macs mainly because they packaged the small part ordered in a big box. Berts was slow to respond to emails but couldn't have been more helpful when I rang them (not my prefered means of commmunication from 8000 miles and several time zones away in New Zealand)- and are certainly the best source for NOS and orginal parts .

Macs took longer and when I queried the postage rate they were downright rude. For this reason (not parts quality or shipping time) I don't deal with them any more.

"5 Window" as a Doctor I also agree!!
